‘Such hatred has no place in today’s society’: 9/11 responder and construction worker injured in Ground Zero cleanup disgusted by scrawled WTC slurs
A s a 9/11 responder, a New Yorker and an American, I was disgusted and disheartened to read Monday’s Daily News article describing the various offensive, racist and sexist remarks littering the bathroom walls of the Freedom Tower.
Such hatred has no place in today’s society, much less on the hallowed ground where 3,000 of our fellow citizens made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Freedom Tower is a symbol of America’s unwavering excellence and the commitment to our future; the words found within the pictures in the newspaper instead only serve to harken back to forgettable biases of long ago.
