State appeals court rules more 9/11 volunteers can get money from compensation fund
ALBANY — A state appeals court Thursday cleared the way for potentially hundreds more 9/11 volunteers to receive money from a special state compensation fund.
A three-judge Appellate Division panel ruled that the state Workers’ Compensation Board was wrong when it said that only members of an “authorized rescue entity or volunteer agency” were entitled to payments from the WTC Volunteer Fund.
