Oct. 3 deadline looms for sickened 9/11 first responders

NEW YORK – The clock is ticking for first responders sickened by Sept. 11 debris to register for health benefits.

Sick or injured first responders have until Oct. 3 to apply for compensation through the Zadroga Act.

So far, 37,000 first responders have applied for compensation.
