FDNY firefighter who responded to Ground Zero dies of COVID-19
A veteran firefighter who rushed to Ground Zero after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks has died of COVID-19 ― the first active-duty city firefighter to succumb in the coronavirus pandemic.
Joseph Ferrugia, 61, of Long Island, died of virus complications Saturday, FDNY officials announced Sunday.
