amNewYork – Judge Orders NYC Officials to Testify on 9/11 Air Quality Records

By Isabella Gallo, published June 1, 2026 in amNewYork. Manhattan Supreme Court Judge James Clyne ordered two NYC officials to testify about why the Department of Environmental Protection initially claimed no records existed on Lower Manhattan air quality following the 2001 attacks, before the city reversed course and turned over 68 boxes of documents to 9/11 advocates.

The 9/11 Health Watch advocacy organization welcomed the court’s May ruling. Attorney Andrew Carboy said he was satisfied to obtain the records but stressed that the public deserved an explanation for how and why the city initially told advocates the materials were unavailable when hundreds of thousands of documents actually existed. Testimony is set for July 1 and July 8.
