7 Ground Zero first responders from LI dead in 1 month

NESCONSET – Nine Sept. 11 first responders from New York, including seven from Long Island, have died in the last month.

Their deaths were likely due to illnesses related to their time at Ground Zero.

According to John Feal, of the FealGood Foundation, at least 1,300 first responders have already died due to toxins breathed in at the World Trade Center site. For years, he has lobbied Congress to pass a compensation package for those impacted.
