There have been many 911 stories, some unbelievable, some heart wrenching. Many of these stories are burned into our memories. This song is based on a little publicized story of the volunteer maritime rescue of a 1/2 million people who were stranded on Lower Manhattan after the towers were hit and exits off the island were closed. The story in this song is a testimony to the human spirit.
