NESCONSET – Nine Sept. 11 first responders from New York, including seven from Long Island, have died in the last month.
Their deaths were likely due to illnesses related to their time at Ground Zero.
According to John Feal, of the FealGood Foundation, at least 1,300 first responders have already died due to toxins breathed in at the World Trade Center site. For years, he has lobbied Congress to pass a compensation package for those impacted.Posted on August 14, 2015

Dear Friends, supporters and Fellow Responders,
As many of you know, the October 3rd deadline to register for the Victims Compensation Fund (VCF) has passed. Hopefully all of you who registered are eligible to receive compensation. With the Oct 3rd deadline passed, the FealGood Foundation has made a significant change as we are headed into year three of the Zadroga Bill (HR 847).
