The Designers + Builders Alliance of Long Island Mystery By Design 4.0 Gala To Benefit Kids Need More

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – FEBRUARY 24, 2020 – MANHASSET, NY – The Designers + Builders Alliance of Long Island (D+BAofLI) is hosting its annual gala Mystery By Design 4.0 on Monday, March 30, 2020, 6-10pm at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, NY. This event was created to honor and celebrate the outstanding creative and charitable contributions of those in the design and building industries while raising essential funds for KiDS NEED MoRE, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of children, families and young adults coping with cancer and life-threatening illness.

Last year’s event attracted over 350 guests in attendance, making Mystery By Design 4.0 the industry event of the year featuring cocktails, dinner, dancing, award program, raffles and silent auction. Mystery By Design attracts the region’s top professionals representing architecture, building, development, interior design and more. We are pleased to announce that George Oliphant, NBC’s George to the Rescue is our Honorary Chairman and Robin Baron, Robin Baron Design, will serve as celebrity designer MC.

The Designers + Builders Alliance of Long Island will posthumously recognize KiDS NEED MoRE supporter Lou Alvarez, NYPD Detective & 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Advocate with the Humanitarian Hero Award. Lou learned of KiDS NEED MoRE through his lifelong friend and KiDS NEED MoRE board member Eddie Orihuela and felt an instant connection to the organization’s mission. “We are posthumously recognizing our Humanitarian Hero Lou, who received a standing ovation after his haunting testimony alongside comedian Jon Stewart before a House subcommittee on June 11, 2019 in which they pleaded for Congress to replenish the 9/11 Victim’s Compensation Fund to ensure continued health benefits for first responders” said Orihuela.

John Starck, Showcase Kitchens, will be recognized as Design Partner of the Year in recognition of Showcase Kitchen’s dedication and support for the design industry, as a founder of the D+BAofLI as well as their generosity to multiple philanthropic causes.

Major sponsors include the Claire Friedlander Family Foundation, Country Carpet, Showcase Kitchens, AGD Construction, Bello Architects, Elle Baker Interiors, European Granite & Marble Group, Marlaina Teich Designs, Stark Carpet Corp. and Sub Zero-Wolf.

“We are thrilled with the growth of the event and enjoying bringing the industry’s top talent together to celebrate. Partnering with KiDS NEED MoRE fits our mission to give back to the community and we look forward to presenting them with a big check,” said D+BAofLI event Chairperson Marlaina Teich, Marlaina Teich Designs.
